Tawa Aloo Toast | Potato Bread Toast

Aloo Toast.jpg

Tawa Aloo Toast is an easy snack time recipe popular with kids and adults too. Since, it is a single slice toast, so it is not overwhelming for small kids also. My 1.5 year old loves this and can munch upon this while playing with his toys. Sharing one more recipe from my mom’s kitchen again with you all. Hope you enjoy it.

Serves: 2
Preparation time: 10 mins.
Cooking time: 10 mins.

Ingredients:

2 medium sized potatoes (boiled and mashed)
4 bread slices
1 green chilli (finely chopped)
½ teaspoon grated ginger
½ teaspoon Garam masala powder
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
1 teaspoon Amchur powder / dry mango powder
½ teaspoon carom seeds / ajwain (optional)
Salt to taste
Tomato Ketchup to garnish and serve

Directions:

  1. Boil, peel and mash the potatoes.
  2. Add in the spices: garam masala powder, red chilli powder, amchur powder, salt along with grated ginger and green chillies.
  3. Mix the mashed potatoes and spices well.
  4. Spread the aloo mixture on the bread slices and press so that the mixture adheres to bread.
  5. Heat a griddle / tawa, apply a little oil. Now, place your bread slice on it for a minute or until crisp and golden.
  6. Flip and toast the side with potato as well until crisp on low flame (dropping oil at the edges).
  7. Remove from tawa and cut into triangular pieces.
  8. Garnish with tomato ketchup as seen in the picture (to attract kids) and serve.
